We look forward to welcoming you aboard this exciting steam-hauled journey to Kiama. With your safety and enjoyment in mind, we have set out below information on what you need to know to get the most of your day out. Onboard staff will be on hand on the day to assist you and answer any questions you might have.

Preparing for your day out

We suggest you wear darker colours. Smoke or ash can sometimes enter the carriage especially if the windows are open
There are no buffet facilities on the train so you are welcome to bring your own snacks if you wish
You may also bring aboard alcoholic beverages – note there is no fridge available
PLEASE NOTE: Large eskies are not permitted
Don’t forget your mobile phone – you will need it for check in!
Bring an external battery for your phone as there are power points aboard to charge your phone
You may wish to bring a small bag or backpack for your camera, any medication etc…

Boarding at Sydney Terminal or Sutherland

∅ Please meet your Cruise Express tour managers on the main concourse of Sydney Terminal near the country platforms (1-4) – look for the blue and white checked shirts and bright orange caps!
♦ On arrival you will be given a temperature test
♦ Any passenger with an abnormally high temperature or displaying signs of illness may be denied boarding
∅ Cruise Express staff will provide you with a lanyard and ticket which will show your car and seat number
∅ All passengers will then asked to use their phone to scan a QR code for check in
PLEASE NOTE: You may be asked for ID. Tickets are not transferrable.
♦ At the station please adhere to social distancing as required including at entry and exit points or where markings are in place
♦ Staff will be on hand to direct you to the correct carriage – please follow their directions

Train timings

∅ You should be aware that while we expect to follow our scheduled timetable, sometimes incidents or factors throughout the rail network may cause us to be delayed. Should there be any change to our timings the onboard staff will keep you informed

Onboard the train

∅ All passengers will be assigned window seats, one either side of a table
∅ Once seated you will be requested not to move from your seats unless needing to use the bathroom
∅ Strict onboard social distancing protocols will be in place to minimise movement about the train
♦ Should you need to use the bathroom you will be required to wear a mask and latex gloves – this is a mandatory requirement and we thank you for your help with this
♦ Should you need to move about for any other reason we request that you wear a mask at all times
♦ Once exiting the bathroom there will be a dedicated receptacle for your gloves and hand sanitiser available before returning to your seat
♦ Onboard staff will move about the carriage from time to time wiping down surfaces
∅ The train is not air conditioned. Should you wish to open the windows, please take care as the windows are heavy. Staff will be on hand should you need assistance
∅ You may be asked to close the windows before the train enters tunnels to avoid smoke and ash entering the carriage
The train is not owned or operated by Cruise Express. Staff from ‘The Picnic Train’ will also be happy to assist you with anything you may need.

Onboard catering

∅ A welcome aboard beverage, morning tea and an evening snack will be supplied to you at your seat as set out in the inclusions
♦ Should you bring any food or beverages with you, please do not share them with other passengers

In Robertson

∅ Before disembarking you will be given a time to be back at the station for our return to Sydney
∅ Passengers will be requested not to group on the platform or station environs 
∅ After disembarking in Robertson you will be asked to proceed to the nearby Robertson Public House for your included lunch
∅ Your lunch has a value of $25 pp per meal and $8 pp for a beverage.
∅ Should you not use the entire value of your meal, there is no refund on the difference
♦ Please follow all social distancing requirements of the venue or as directed by staff
