The Capitol Limited
Featuring the 621/721 rail motor & Spirit of Progress
The Capitol Limited is a new 6-day adventure by sea and rail, offering the unique opportunity to ride aboard two of Australia’s most delightful heritage trains – the legendary Spirit of Progress and 621/721 rail motor. Step back in time and ride aboard these gleaming, beautifully restored trains – truly rare survivors of the golden age of travel.
First, you’ll board the beautiful Golden Princess at Station Pier in Melbourne. Three nights and two days at sea allow you to indulge in fine cuisine, spectacular entertainment and carefree days lounging by the pools. After disembarking in the harbour city of Sydney at spectacular Circular Quay, you’ll enjoy a night at the heritage Grace Hotel, in the heart of the CBD. Conveniently located close to shops, galleries and Darling Harbour – you’ll have half a day and evening at leisure to explore.
Following a night’s rest, you’ll board the 621/721 rail motor at Sydney Terminal for a daylight journey to Albury. With windows that open and all the charm of the 1960s, the friendly crew will look after you throughout the journey. There’s even an opportunity to visit the drivers’ cab to speak with the crew and see how everything works. With lunch and dinner stops along the way, this is a delightful journey through the ever changing countryside to the border. At Albury you’ll stay overnight at the über modern ATURA.
Your final day of travel heralds a return to the station where the gleaming iconic Spirit of Progress awaits. Recently converted to standard gauge after decades on Victoria’s broad gauge system, heritage locomotives will haul original compartment cars. As you speed towards the Victorian capital, you’ll enjoy morning tea before your lunchtime arrival at Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station.
This unique and exclusive adventure will book out quickly so reserve your place in history today. Step aboard The Capitol Limited and let Cruise Express take care of everything. All you have to do is sit back, relax, make new friends and enjoy.
