Your experts and hosts
Moira Mevissen – Cruise Express Host
Moira has worked in partnership with Cruise Express for over 10 years. As a frequent cruiser, Moira loves life at sea but her passion for cruising was matched in 2016 by her discovery of crochet. “I just get lost in the magic of it and I can’t wait to see others enjoy crochet’s many charms on this very special cruise” Moira says. Moira is also a hospitality professional and will ensure everyone – including partners – is well looked after and enjoys themselves.
Kathy Hodgetts – Crochet Teacher
Kathy taught herself to crochet almost a decade ago and crochet quickly became her passion and obsession. She was making so many items she started selling at local markets monthly whilst continuing to work part time, and loved seeing the smiles on peoples faces when they were looking at her creations. Kathy loves sharing her skills, love and passion for crochet and creating with others.
Her classes focus on creating an item in one or two sessions – learning the skills needed to complete that particular item that has been carefully selected. Additionally she also shows what the students can further create with those skills. Other classes then build on these skills. She does provide a warning to her students – “Crochet is addictive” . . . but what an addiction to have!

This was our first trip with Cruise Express but we’ll be looking out for more.
“Our trip with you from Melbourne to Sydney and back by train and ship in February was brilliant. My friend, Joy, and I thought it was fantastic. The heritage train really takes you back in time. Everyone from Cruise Express – Grant, Rebecca and Tina – was so friendly and efficient, going out of their way to make our little holiday so enjoyable and trouble-free. Tina’s personality really shines in her customer service.
This was our first trip with Cruise Express but we’ll be looking out for more.”

Many of our friends have also booked with Cruise Express as a result.
“Our cruise to New Zealand with my sister aboard Ovation of the Seas was wonderful. We like a bigger ship because of all the activities and facilities – there’s so much to do and the food and service were amazing too. We have booked our holidays through Cruise Express for many years now. Compared to other companies we have used, they are much more responsive and efficient, answering any inquiries very quickly. Many of our friends have also booked with Cruise Express as a result.”

Cruise Express always does that little bit extra to make the experience even better.
We joined your ‘Voyage to the Vineyards’ cruise to New Zealand (Oct-Nov) and we wanted to thank you and host, Hardy, for an absolutely great trip. Everything – excursions, lunches, wine tastings- was of such a high quality and well organised. This was our fifth hosted trip with Cruise Express.
We always feel really looked after on your trips. Cruise Express always does that little bit extra to make the experience even better. They’re always very caring.
Our next trip is over Christmas on the new Great Southern train trip from Brisbane to Adelaide which we also booked through you. We’re looking forward to it.

I’m looking forward to doing another one soon.
This was my third Crochet Cruise with Cruise Express and, again, it was excellent. I met old friends from the first two Crochet Cruises and made new friends and learned new skills.
The support and camaraderie from everyone was beautiful and Moira as host and the help from the teachers was wonderful.
I’m looking forward to doing another one soon.

I just loved the Crochet Cruise to New Zealand.
I just loved the Crochet Cruise to New Zealand. This was my second Crochet Cruise with Moira and her energy and passion made the experience so much richer. It was so rewarding for all of us to share our passion for crochet together at sea.
Our room on Celebrity Solstice overlooking the ocean was also wonderful.
