Ponant Kimberley 2020 - 10 night expeditions May to July

Any Cruise, Anywhere, Any Time

Ponant Kimberley 2020

Le Lapérouse

Ponant Kimberley 2020 – with waterfalls, steep gorges, vast plateaux, crystal clear waters and remote mountain ranges, the untamed lands of The Kimberley hold the promise of a quintessential Australian adventure. The vast Kimberley wilderness was formed billions of years ago and today it remains just as rugged and remote. That makes it the perfect landscape to explore from May to August 2020 on a luxurious Ponant expedition cruise along the spectacular cliff-lined coast between Broome and Darwin. In one of the most picturesque parts of the region, the Hunter River, you will see wild mangrove forests where saltwater crocodiles live along with many species of birds.

You’ll also visit King George River and the majestic Twin Falls, the highest falls in Western Australia. With immense waterfalls, abrupt gorges, savannah, calm waters and desolate mountain chains, the wild lands of the Kimberley are one of the last unspoiled regions on the planet

  • The 2020 Expedition Team will be headed by award winning photographer and adventurer Mick Fogg, a veteran of over 125 Kimberley expeditions. He will be joined by a group of 10 experienced geologists, historians, cultural experts, marine biologists, naturalists and conservationists.

Mick Fogg:It’s like nowhere else on earth, a wild land of remote, spectacular scenery spread over vast distances, it’s the Antarctica of the tropics. The shear size and age of the landscape is humbling and it is a privilege to experience such a pristine environment, home to the oldest continuous culture on earth, the world’s largest living reptile, the only two ‘horizontal falls’ on the planet, the world’s largest inshore reef and the largest population of migrating humpback whales on the planet. One of the world’s last great wilderness areas, and one of Australia’s greatest natural assets, it is a destination that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime”.

Onboard Le Lapérouse, a ship with just 92 cabins, you will have the privilege of exploring the Kimberley while enjoying all the traditional Ponant benefits: outstanding modern ship, a range of facilities – including a swimming pool, spa and choice of restaurants – and open bar. Whichever expedition you choose, you will experience the exceptional levels of comfort and service that are the very hallmark of Ponant Kimberley 2020 expeditions.
