2019 Rail Spectacular - featuring Beyer-Garratt 6029

Any Cruise, Anywhere, Any Time

The Rail Spectacular 2019

Featuring locomotive B61

The Rail Spectacular 2019 – five days of fun, exploration and sensory overload. A thrilling heritage rail journey quite unlike any other travelling behind some of the finest locomotives and carriages available. Locomotive 4204 will be joined by guest locomotive B61 (the Bernie Baker). Bernie himself, a veteran train driver will also join us throughout to share his stories and experience.

There’s a half day in Melbourne to explore, visit your favourite cafe or try the cake shops on Acland Street in St. Kilda. We also visit the heritage rail yards at Newport and Seymour to meet the people that volunteer their time to keep these historic pieces of rail equipment alive. It’s a rare chance to get up close and truly see behind the scenes.

We’ve arranged some special moments throughout – such as a visit to the charming Bellarine Railway to travel behind the rare Tasmanian X class – the very first Australian mainline diesels. You’ll also travel behind A² 986 from Ballarat to Melbourne via Bacchus Marsh – the first time in 56 years an A² has hauled alone on this route! Or perhaps the sound of steam locomotive R707 thundering along at 100 km/hr towards Seymour will be your highlight?

5 days, 12 train movements, 10 locomotives, over 30 carriages… we promise this is a journey you won’t soon forget. Come – experience awesome.
