Heritage Rail Tour CovidSafe Travel Requirements

Cruise Express

BEFORE YOU TRAVEL

Please note, the below details are current as of January 2022.

We are ready to welcome you back to travel with confidence.
Our JourneySafe COVID safety & vaccination protocols means that we have implemented enhanced procedures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic so that you can travel
with peace of mind.

Safeguarding guests, employees and the communities into which we travel is at the heart of everything Cruise Express does.  As part of the Cruise Express COVID safe experience, a vaccination policy is in place providing guidance in the absence of mandated state-based health orders or other Government directives.

Guests travelling on our heritage rail journeys are required to provide us with confirmation they are well and fit to travel. All guests and train crew must complete our pre-screening process.

COVID-19 VACCINATION
From 01 January 2022, guests travelling on our heritage rail tours must be double or triple vaccinated. This can be provided to us at the time of booking or no later than one week prior to travel. This should be sent to info@cruiseexpress.com.au

PCR TEST PRIOR TO TRAVEL
Guests are required to take a COVID-19 PCR test 90-48 hours prior to check-in time. This test involves some small discomfort in gathering a nose and throat
sample, but lasts only a matter of moments. If there are any significant health concerns raised during screening, guest/s will be asked to postpone their travel and contact Cruise Express for alternative arrangements.

REDUCE RISK BEFORE YOU TRAVEL
We ask that all guests and crew self-isolate to the extent possible for at least 7 days prior to arriving at the departure point of their cruise. We suggest the following approach:
• Conduct only essential activities outside of your home
• Limit your exposure to indoor public spaces or transport
• Avoid large social gatherings.

TRAVEL SAFE TO THE STATION
To reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 as you travel to the train station, our recommendations include wearing a mask whilst travelling in public transport and in terminals, wash hands regularly, and physical distance in public spaces.

LEVEL TWO: RAT TEST AND CLEARANCE TO TRAVEL
All guests and crew will be required to take an approved Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) as part of the cruise check-in process. The RAT is a shallow nasal swab that is self-administered with a 15 minute turnaround for results. Please ensure you have your PCR results with you, along with the details of the time and place you received your test. A negative test will be required to board for both guests and crew.

If there are any significant health concerns raised during screening, guest/s will be asked to postpone their travel and contact Cruise Express for instructions.

DURING YOUR TOUR

While our focus is on prevention of COVID-19 from crossing the barrier to the train, mitigation actions on board have also formed a large part of our JourneySAFE program. Below is an overview of what you can expect on board to keep you safe.

HAND AND RESPIRATORY HYGIENE
Wash stations and Hand sanitiser throughout the vessel and masks will also be provided for all guests and crew if they become unwell or for those that choose to wear them onboard.

PHYSICAL DISTANCING ONBOARD
We will minimise the movement of large groups of people using staggered calls by deck or cabin number to group functions such as lectures and meals. For dining, expect to see both indoors and al fresco options. When going ashore aboard the Xplorer tenders, a safe distance between groups and multiple tender trips will be provided.

CLEANING & DISINFECTION PROCEDURES
Objects and surfaces that are touched frequently like carriage and door handles will be cleaned and disinfected regularly. Staff and crew will wear PPE for any work activities that have higher risk.

CONTACT RECORDING & QR CODES
Contact tracing is an essential element of managing COVID-19. At many sites and locations we visit, mandatory QR code check in is in place. You are required to bring a smart phone with you for this procedure. Should you not have a smart phone our staff will assist with your check in.
