This unique tour provides an unparalleled opportunity to experience the magic of steam train travel throughout Germany. After exploring the glories of London you’ll transfer by Eurostar to picturesque Cologne, a 2000 year old Cathedral City on the banks of the Rhine. You’ll then board a privately chartered steam hauled train and settle back as you travel East through the stunning rural landscape of hills, mountains, rivers and wooded valleys. Nuremberg is a compact old city with winding streets and beautiful buildings watched over by Nuremberg Castle.

After two nights you’ll head off to Dresden. Known as the jewel box for its baroque and rococo city centre, Dresden is home to many stunning buildings. There will be optional organised excursions and for steam lovers there will be a day long trip to the two narrow gauge railways Freital and Radebeul. The highlight of the tour is a three night stay in the Harz Mountains, featuring a 140 kilometre railway that criss-crosses the mountains and is now a steam railway. The lines wind through enchanting forests and valleys, often achieving steep climbs to The Brocken at over 3,000 feet.

4 star passengers will be welcomed on board with a glass of Bucks Fizz and will receive a light lunch on board the train on days 1, 3, 5 & 8. 4 star passengers will also receive dinner either on board the train or in their hotels on days 1, 3, 5 & 8.
