Riverina Warbirds
18 October 2024 - 4 days
from $2,990* pp twin | $3,390* solo
Join us for a thrilling, fascinating and unique journey to the Riverina by exclusive heritage diesel-hauled train. Onboard you’ll find spacious seating in 1930s carriages featuring windows that open – better connecting you with the passing countryside. Also enjoy a homemade Devonshire tea in the air-conditioned dining car!
From Griffith, we’ll head to Temora for a spectacular day out at the Warbirds Downunder Airshow at the Temora Aviation Museum. With VIP seating, beverages and lunch included, your day will be jam-packed with action, in the air and on the ground, getting up close and personal with the planes and their history.
Our weekend away then continues further west. The Hay Plains is a vast expanse of flat land, studded with saltbush, rising just 17 metres from the highest to the lowest point. It’s the flattest place in the southern hemisphere and the views are breathtaking.
In Hay, we’ll visit the fascinating Dunera Museum. Housed in the former Hay Railway Station, it tells the story of over 6,000 civilian internees and prisoners of war who were kept in three prison camps at Hay between 1940 and 1946. Discover Bishop’s Lodge, an extraordinary 1888 iron house surrounded by a historic garden. At the 1878 built Hay Gaol you’ll view an intriguing collection of artefacts and we’ll visit Shear Outback to take in a live shearing demonstration. It’s a spectacular day out which ends perfectly with delicious cuisine at Zecca Handmade Italian, where the restaurant’s authentic recipes are generations old.
Come with us – there simply isn’t another tour like this one!
