Day 1 Board The Ghan Expedition in Darwin Settle into the comforts of The Ghan, as you travel to the Red Centre by train. (B,L,D)

Day 2 The Ghan Expedition, Alice Springs

Your eight-day all-inclusive Red Centre tour commences on arrival at the Alice Springs Rail Terminal. Here, you will be met by the passionate Outback Spirit crew, who will showcase everything the Red Centre has to offer. (B,L,D)

2 nights, DoubleTree by Hilton Alice Springs

 
Day 3 Alice Springs

After breakfast, venture to the West MacDonnell Ranges for a guided walk of Simpsons Gap, known as ‘Rungutjirpa’ by the Arrernte people. You’ll visit Standley Chasm – Angkerle Atwatye – a cultural icon of Central Australia, 100% owned and operated by the Arrernte community. You’ll also visit the Alice Springs Desert Park for a guided tour. (B,L,D)

 
Day 4 Alice Springs, Kings Canyon

Say goodbye to Alice Springs as you venture deeper into the outback. You’ll visit Ellery Creek for a short walk and morning tea, then Ormiston Gorge. You’ll stop for lunch at Glen Helen, before journeying to the Kings Canyon and Watarrka National Park. Tonight, dinner is at Carmichael’s at Kings Canyon Resort. (B,L,D)

2 nights, Kings Canyon Resort

 
Day 5 Kings Canyon, Watarrka National Park

Today, depart early to explore Kings Canyon. Two walks are available, including the spectacular 6 kilometre rim walk or the more relaxed 2.6 kilometre walk along the canyon floor. In the afternoon, there is an opportunity to take a 15-minute helicopter flight over Kings Canyon and Watarrka National Park (at own expense). Return to the resort for lunch and to rest and refresh. The afternoon is spent learning about Aboriginal culture with Karrke Aboriginal Cultural Experience and Tours. In the evening, enjoy sunset drinks and canapes at Light Towers, an immersive sound and light installation by acclaimed artist Bruce Munro. (B,L,D)

 
Day 6 Kings Canyon, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park

This morning, depart Kings Canyon for Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, lunching at Curtin Springs, a million-acre cattle station. This evening, you’ll attend the Wintjiri Wiru Sunset Dinner, a cultural storytelling experience, told through choreographed drones, lasers and projections illuminating the sky. Enjoy cocktails infused with native ingredients and dine on a gourmet dinner hamper as the night sky lights up. Witness the ancient Mala story retold, listening to a traditional Inma soundtrack and narration in the local Pitjantjatjara language. (B,L,D)

3 nights, Sails in the Desert Hotel

 
Day 7 Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park

After breakfast, travel to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) and admire the rock formations on a guided walk into Walpa Gorge. You’ll then take a guided tour around the base of Uluru and learn about traditional Anangu culture. In the afternoon, you’ll visit Maruku Arts for a dot painting workshop. A local Anangu artist teaches you about traditional art, and you’ll have the opportunity to create something to take home. Before sunset, head to an exclusive dune-top location, with views of Uluru. Enjoy drinks and canapes as artist Bruce Munro’s global phenomenon Field of Light gently illuminates across an area the size of seven football fields. (B,L,D)

 
Day 8 Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park

Early risers can experience the sun rising over Uluru before breakfast at the hotel. Afterwards, you’ll depart for the Mala Walk to see fine examples of rock art before arriving at Kantju Gorge. Return to the hotel for lunch, where you can spend the afternoon at leisure or participate in additional touring. This evening, enjoy the unique Sounds of Silence dining experience, beginning with canapes and sparkling wine served on platform overlooking the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Listen to the didgeridoo and enjoy a premium bush tucker-inspired buffet. Settle in as the resident star talker decodes the night sky. (B,L,D)

 
Day 9 Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Alice Springs

The Ghan Expedition Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before making the journey from Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park to Alice Springs. This evening, enjoy a unique dining experience at the Telegraph Station. With white tablecloths under your fingertips, red earth at your feet and the Southern Cross constellation high in the sky this will be a night to remember. After dinner, re-join The Ghan Expedition. Day 10-11 The Ghan Expedition, Adelaide

From your morning stop at Manguri, you’ll venture to Coober Pedy, where more than half of the residents live underground. Here, you’ll enjoy a day of discovery, and a gourmet lunch in the most unique of locations Travelling overnight, you’ll arrive in Adelaide late morning, your final destination on The Ghan Expedition. (B,L,D,B)
